Fatality above Chamonix: an alpiniste suffered a fatal fall above Chamonix, in the Argentiere basin (La pointe des Améthystes)
Tuesday, 17 March 2015, on the afternoon, an alpiniste has died in a climbing accident.
After summeting La pointe des Améthystes (3273m), the man, 41, was descending when a equipment failure caused his 50m fall. The gendarmes from the Chamonix PGHM were
immediately called. On their arrival at the scene accident, they declared that the impact was fatal.
