Fatal wingsuit jump from the Aiguille du Midi

A 51-year-old Canadian, plunges to his death this Wednesday 9, after a failed wingsuit flight from the Aiguille du Midi, Mont-Blanc Massive. The man was well equipped and was wearing a special jumpsuit.
 

At about 1:30pm one alert was raised to the rescue team from Chamonix. Arriving on the scene of the accident, the pelotons de gendarmerie de haute montagne could only declare the man dead. The victim's body was recovered from the Plan de l'Aiguille (2300m) by the PGHM. This is considered to be the first death this year in France involving a wingsuit practitioner.

Wingsuit is a high risk and often deadly extreme sport, which reaches one the the highest rate of mortality. Over 20 persons are killed yearly.

An investigation has been released in order to establish the circumstances of the accident.
