Glacier des Bossons: Hiker discovers a hand

On 25th July 2018, a hiker discovered a hand in the Glacier des Bossons (4.800m).

According to Le Dauphine, the man made the discovery close to Buvette du Cerro (1.358m), a restaurant located at the foot of the Glacier des Bossons.

The Chamonix High Mountain Rescue Team (PGHM) investigated the area.

Last night, at the time of discovery it was difficult to identify it's provenance, but is possible to be from the Malabar Princess incident.

Remainings from the plane crash:

On 3rd November 1950: the Malabar Princess, an Air India aircraft descending into Geneva, crashed on the Mont-Blanc. All the 48 passengers died. Sixteen years later, on 24th January 1966, a Boeing 707, also belonging to Air India, flying from Mumbai to New York, impacted in the same proximity. 177 passengers died.

The ice covering the Mont-Blanc massif changes all the time, so remains from the aircraft accidents appear regularly. Last year several bones had been discovered on the glacier.

Also, in 2013 a man discovered a treasure with rubies and sapphires with an estimated value of €246.000. To read the article, click here.
