On 22 July 2018 the Chamonix High Mountain Rescue Team (PGHM) had three more interventions.
According to Le Dauphine, the first intervention took place on the descent route of Mont Blanc for a man suffering from altitude sickness. His companion was evacuated as well because of health problems.
But the last intervention that took place in the afternoon was the most serious one. The PGHM rescued a 60-year-old man, victim of a fall while hiking in the north side of Grand Balcon. The victim suffered head injuries and a sore shin.
The PGHM transported him to the hospital in Chamonix with a helicopter.
We advise mountaineers to be properly equipped, and to possess sufficient experience, to avoid being the cause or the victim of an accident.
We recommend: hire a High Mountain Guide.
