According to a press release by Compagnie du Mont Blanc on 15 September 2018, we have the first information about the consequences of the Lognan Station Fire.
The town hall and the Compagnie du Mont Blanc met to assess together the consequences of the decommissioning of the intermediate station Grands Montets.
The objective is to open the entire sector of the ski area, except for the "top of the Grands Montets".
The Grands Montets ski area will be open for the winter season with access via the Plan Joran gondola, ski on the Lognan plateau with the new chair-lift giving access to the new beginners’ zone as well as all the trails accessible from the Bochard gondola & the Herse & Retour Pendant chair-lifts.
In order to preserve Chamonix's touristic popularity, Eric Fournier, mayor of Chamonix, asked for help in a spirit of solidarity for all members involved.
He also stated that the Prefect had authorized the works to restore the site to a state of functionality.
The Prefect will go to Chamonix by the end of this month.
The Municipality and the operator have agreed to make regular reviews of this file: the next plenary meeting is scheduled for the end of September 2018.
