Mont-Blanc: Father and son caught in small avalanche

Tuesday 13th February 2018, a 54-year-old father and his teenage son were caught in a small avalanche while they were skiing off-piste near the Balme ski area.

According to Le Dauphine, the incident occurred in the morning above the chamoniard village of Le Tour, in an area along the red ski piste of Les Caisets. While they were skiing, a plaque of unstable snow of about twenty centimeters thick and 30 meters wide detached.

The father was partially buried by the snow. The son has only been pushed and tried to help his father until the piste safety team arrived.

Fortunately, both victims were not injured and were able to ski back with the ski patrollers.
