On 15th, 16th and 17th June 2018 the Chamonix High Mountain Rescue Team (PGHM) of Chamonix will celebrate 60 years of existence and rescue service in the Mont-Blanc massif.
To celebrate this prestigious organization, many events will be organized in the town center of Chamonix! So, you are invited to participate!

Schedule:
Friday 15th June 2018:
Is to take place the conference "60 years of rescue" at the Majestic Hall, in the town center of Chamonix from 7:30pm. Admission free.
Saturday 16th June 2018:
From 9:00am to 7:00pm on the Place du Triangle de l'Amitié, PGHM village with many demonstrations and animations.
At 10:30am helicopter demonstration in the town center of Chamonix, also it will be a climbing wall, exhibitions and many partners. Admission free.
At 3:30pm is to take place the air demonstration on the Planpraz site. Access by the Planpraz gondola from 1:30pm. Admission free.
Sunday 17th June 2018:
From 9:00am to 2:00pm PGHM village at Place du Triangle de l'Amitié.
At 12:00 (noon) is to take place the Official Ceremony.

PGHM Chamonix Mont-Blanc, 1958 - 2018
Short history:
The Chamonix PGHM was created in 1958 following the accident of Vicendon and Henry in the Mont-Blanc massif. This was the starting point for the creation of this mountain organization in the National Gendarmerie with the appearance of numerous PGHM and PGM units in mainland and overseas.
The first High Mountain Specialist Group (GSHM) was operational in the Mont Blanc Massif on 3 November 1958.
In 1961 it became a platoon (PSHM), then ten years later it got the current name of Chamonix High Mountain Rescue Team (PGHM).
The missions of the PGHM:
- Rescue people in difficulty;
- Search missing or deceased persons;
- Check compliance with regulations and note contravention;
- Monitor the mountainous area;
- Participate in safety committees (refuge, ski area);
- Prevent accidents and inform the public - Conduct surveys following mountain accidents;
- Perform expertise for the benefit of magistrates;
The gendarmes are responsible for securitized activities with the assistance of auxiliary collaborators ( gendarmes helicopter pilots, civil security, police dog handlers, SMUR doctors...).
