On Monday night, 21 March 2016 a new record Chamonix-Zermatt was set!
Two Ski instructors Bastien Fleury and Olivier Meynet departed from the Church in the centre of Chamonix at 00:20hrs and completed the 108 km route with 7.850m D+ in just 16 hours and 35 minutes. They took advantage of the good weather, and stayed as high as possible between Chamonix and Bourg St Pierre. After that they joined the classic Haute Route into Zermatt.
The previous record of 18 hours 35 mins was set in 2013 by Lionel Claudpierre, a member of PGHM of Bourg Saint Maurice.
With an advantage of 2 hours this new record will stand for a good while unless Kilian Jornet steps up for the challenge.
Congratulations Bastien Fleury & Olivier Meynet!
