Romain Desgranges wins the Lead IFSC Climbing World Cup 2017!

This weekend 11th and 12th November 2017, the Chamoniard Romain Desgranges (35) won the general ranking of the Lead IFSC Climbing World Cup 2017.

According to Le Dauphine, Romain Desgranges is the first French man in 14 years to win the title.

Placed 9th in the final of the World Cup in Kranj (SLO), Romain Desgranges is the best lead climber of the 2017!

Romain Desgranges first words after winning the Lead Climbing World Champion title: "I feel a little lighter (laughs). I did not completely realize but I am relieved. Even if the scenario was favorable to me, it had to be written in black and white and that's the case."

2017: A golden season

European Climbing Champion

According to FFME (Fédération Française de la Montagne et de l'Escalade), 2017 was a very good year for the leader of the French climbing team, which started with a victory. Indeed, on 1st July, the Chamoniard won the title of European Champion in Campitello di Fassa (Italy).

Also, Romain won three stages this year

  • 7th-9th July: IFSC Climbing Worldcup in Villars (SUI).
  • 28th-29th July : IFSC Climbing Worldcup in Briançon (FRA).
  • 23rd-24th September: IFSC Climbing Worldcup in Édimbourg (GBR).

And this weekend 11th and 12th November 2017 with the overall victory of Lead IFSC Climbing World Cup 2017 in Slovenia.

IFSC Climbing World Cup 2017 -  29th edition of the Climbing World Cup. This international circuit consists of fifteen stages including eight lead championships, seven bouldering championships and seven speed climbing championships.

The the series of competitions started on 7th April ended this 12th November 2017 with the last stage.
