On Sunday, the 19th April 2015, on the occasion of the annual ceremony "Mémorial Spadino" from the main square in Courmayeur, serious morning traffic delays are expected on the Mont-Blanc Tunnel.
Thousands of French and Italian bikers will meet to pay homage to the Italian motorbike patroller Pierlucio Tizzani, known to his friends as Spadino, who lost his life saving victims of the Mont-Blanc tunnel fire on 24th March 1999.
The memorial ceremony will take place at 2:00pm, time at which the highway tunnel will be closed for around an hour, allowing all bikers to travel through the tunnel free of charge.
Large queues and serious delays are expected for the both Mont-Blanc tunnel directions, as this year, the passage in group is no longer allowed and it will be done on an individual basis under normal traffic conditions.
