Trail des Aiguilles Rouges 2013 Report

The 2013 edition of Trail des Aiguilles Rouge (the TAR), took place on 29 Sept 2013 in the Chamonix Mont-Blanc valley. The event was very well organised.

643 athletes took part in the race over 50km with 4000 metres D+ of altitude variation.

As expected, there was a huge turnout from French runners, with considerable success. 75% of runners that completed the TAR 2013 are French nationals.

The womens race was wone by Delphine Avenier. She maintained a steady pace trhoughout, avoiding any major fluctuations in speed and quickly found herself alone in the lead. In 2013, Delphine Avenier, a passionate runner, also ran the Tour des Fiz (2nd) and the CCC (3rd).

The men's competition was won by Michel Rabat, beating Guillaume Peretti, one of the favorites. The 2013 winner of TAR has an impressive track record. He won the Grand Vignemale Trophy, the Canigou Championship, the Trail de Balcon d'Azur, the Trail of Citadels and the Devil Hills Trail of Cahors. The TAR is his greatest victory.

The TAR is a very technical event; runners must have a high level of concentration on the route to avoid a fall and a high level of training to complete the course successfully.

The "P'tit TAR" is a 15km race with 1200 metres D+ of altitude gain.

The 2013 winners are Claire Martin (women) and Clovis Dalban Moreynas (men).
