A very busy weekend for the PGHM Chamonix mountain rescue. Vallée Blanche, ski areas of the Pays du Mont Blanc...
At 6 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, the Chamonix High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM) had carried out seven rescue operations. After helping a skier with multiple injuries on the Saint-Gervais ski area, who was taken to Sallanches hospital, the unit treated a man with a dislocated shoulder at Grands Montets ski resort.
Two elderly people miss the last gondola: they are evacuated by helicopter
A man injured in the knee while ski touring near Lac Blanc was also taken care of. The rescuers then headed to the off-piste route of the Vallée Blanche, for a skier with an ankle injury and another, who was exhausted.
The PGHM also had to take to Sallanches hospital a 30-year-old man who had fallen into a crevasse. Almost unharmed after being taken out by his friends, he was taken to hospital for check-ups.
Finally, two elderly people who had missed the last cable car to the ice cave were evacuated to the Bois helicopter base.
