International ski competition in Chamonix - Kandahar Junior, 11th-13th January 2019

Ski competition in Chamonix this upcoming weekend will bring together 240 young athletes who will compete against each other.

The Les Houches ski club (France) organizes the 5th edition of the Kandahar Junior on the 11th, 12th and 13th of January, 2019, in the Les Houches ski area - Chamonix Valley - France.

50 ski clubs to be represented, with delegations from many different countries: Italy, Belgium, Scotland, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Russia, Sweden, Spain, and obviously France.

On the same ski area on which the Kandahar FIS has the best professional skiers compete on a regular basis, 240 young skiers under the age of 14 will participate this weekend on one of the most exciting ski competitions.

120 boys and 120 girls will compete together for three days in different types of runs: “géant pro” runs, slalom runs (SL) and giant runs (GS).

Each race will have its own rankings and rewards, which will, moreover, contribute to the overall team ranking system.

The winning club team will win the challenge "Kandahar Junior" cup, which will return to Les Houches every year unless a club wins three years in a row. In that case, that club holds the cup forever. 

What are the sign-in conditions?

Not only is Les Houches ski club engaged in cultivating team spirit, but they are also committed to ensuring parity between girls and boys.

In consequence, clubs wishing to take part in the Kandahar Junior must present a team mandatorily consisted of 2 boys and 2 girls of the U14 category.
