Strong winds at the top of the Aiguille du Midi last night and the Aiguille du Midi cable car is closed

The weather in the Mont-Blanc might be always a little bit challenging, but yesterday night, the 6th of March, 2019, gusts blew at 244km/ h.

The strong wind that blew last night on Mont-Blanc caused a power blackout in Les Houches. Consequently, the Les Houches ski area had been closed this morning.

Now, Les Houches ski area is open by Prarion gondola and the Bellevue gondola is expected to open at 11 pm.

According to the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc, the Aiguille du Midi site is currently closed due to the strong winds from last night.

Last night, the wind reached 244 km/ h at the top of the Aiguille du Midi, at 3842 m above sea level.

Furthermore, the Tramway du Mont-Blanc is also closed for the day.

Also, the rest of the estate is also impacted, as the gusts have caused many trees to fall on other ski areas, such as Voza Pass.

According to Le Dauphine, the two guards who were on duty last night at the Aiguille du Midi station are okay.

The Compagnie du Mont-Blanc is currently examining all areas, and they hope that the winds did not affect the cables of the Panoramic gondola.

The Compagnie du Mont-Blanc is constantly updating their lift status, so remember to check to see if any developments have been made.
