Chamonix: new climbing route in the Aiguilles Rouges

The high mountain guide Emmanuel Ratouis, accompanied by some friends Alexandre Henot, Adrien Müller and Elie Meignan, opened a new climbing route in the northern part of the Aiguilles Rouges, a two-day itinerary almost fully equipped.

A project that required nearly 15 days spread over three summer seasons.

They started from the Aiguille de Praz-Torrent sector to the Aiguille de la Persévérance, giving them the idea of a new crossing to open and equip."I had embarked on the ascent of a route in the Aiguille de Mesure, when I spotted a pillar that seemed insane to me," says Emmanuel Ratouis.

According to the Dauphiné Libéré after climbing the first pillar, the climbers will reach a first unnamed summit, but which the guide plans to baptize "the Aiguille de la Temperance".

A must-try route for experienced climbers

The roped parties will be able to climb a second pillar of nearly 400 meters at the Aiguille de Encrenaz before reaching the ridge connecting it to the Aiguille de la Persévérance and the final abseils to reach the hikers' floor.

Nearly thirty lengths were thus equipped by Emmanuel Ratouis and his climbing partners. "The roped parties will simply have to equip themselves with a few friends to secure themselves on the ridges", warns the guide, happy to share this new route that he hopes will become a classic for the rock climbing lovers and dizzying adventure in the Chamonix Mont-Blanc valley.

A climbing route that does not present any difficulty greater than 6b. Emmanuel Ratouis will prepare a detailed description of the itinerary.
