Its a Flegere Powder day! Happy Easter, says the Easter snow bunny, and showers us with fluff.

After a few days of snowfalls, deep heavy powder at the Grands Montets, and occasional blue holes in the sky, today finally went bluebird, and we could go and ski the terrain accessed by the lifts that had been closed the last few days. In most peoples' case, that was the Grands Montets top, but I went to Flegere, where the Index chairlift hadn't been skied since Friday. With lots of heavy fresh snow all day Friday, and another 20 or more centimetres of fluff on top on Saturday and Sunday, it was looking very nice.

There were hardly any people there in the morning, which was great, and the terrain at the Index and Floria lifts is excellent for just such a day, lots of smooth pitches, with many small drop-offs in between. The snow was still cold and light in the morning, and knee deep in many places, with Fridays heavy snow underneath giving a nice resistance and the fluff flowing around on top. It was starting to get a bit heavy in the direct sunlight, but the temperature stayed cold for a while. The groomed pistes were great too, freshly groomed corduroy early on, and then soft later after they got skied.

It sure is a beautiful day today in Chamonix, with the mountains shining fresh and white in the warm spring sunshine, and the winter continues to be snowy, with some sunshine to keep us happy. We may even have some more snowfall later this week.
