After a few mixed days of clouds and sunshine, today we have a totally clear day in the Chamonix mountains - a beautiful sight, and a good chance to go to the Brevent to soak up some sunshine.
It was cold this morning, however, with a North-East wind high up, and it will warm up a bit during the day, but the air is not hot right now. The snow conditions were fantastic up there - perfect smooth groomed runs early in the day, and nice fesh clean air. We haven't had much new snow recently, except in the high mountain, but there is still plenty of snow to go around. I was going to head towards Flegere on the Liason lift, but the Brevent was good enough to hold my attention.
The off-piste was pretty nice too - smooth in places, and quite chalky, with softening snow in the direct sunshine. We have a great snowpack, especially in the mid mountain, though as is normal for this time of the year, the ski-out back to the valley is closed right now for stones and gaps in the snow on the forest track.
