They will start tomorrow early morning. The 24th edition of the Pierra Menta will take place from the 12th to the 15th Mars 2009 in Areches-Beuafort (Savoie). 160 teams of two, men and women, that will climb and ski during the four mornings the 10000m of the competition. The Pierra Menta is the most famous competition of ski mountaineering in the all world, and if the weather allows, it will attract again more than 4000 spectators each day. Every year the winners are faster. They are very good climbing up but also very good skiers. The level progressed a lot in the last few years. In the evening, the ambiance in the village is mad, everybody lives, during these 4 days, only for the ski mountaineering... it's like the Tour de France but only for 4 days. Nobody can hide from the 'Pierra Menta' fever SATURDAY, the big day of the GRAND MONT The ski lift du Grand Mont will be open since 5h30am. Free access to everybody.
