The goal in a snowpark is jumps…big jumps…to pick up speed, take off on a ramp, catch some “big air” and land on a slight slope. This is a very popular part of winter sports, especially with the younger generations. The snowpark at Lognan often sees injuries such as twisted knees, broken legs, fractured shoulders; all victims of bad falls. Yesterday afternoon, a young skier attempted a jump without correctly judging the distance to the landing. The PGHM do not know exactly how it happened but do know he landed on his cervical. He never regained consciousness after landing. The ski patrol were on site immediately and tried to resuscitate the victim for a half hour before the helicopters arrived and took over. It is believed the young man died from shattered vertebrae. Le Dauphine MORE
