Yuan Hong Li dies in the north face of Aiguille du Midi

It was his friends who had alerted the PGHM Chamonix, late Sunday afternoon, anxious not to see him return. Yuan Hong Li a Chinese climber and paraglider, aged 48, had settled in Chamonix since 1996, practising the mountain sports of his choice among which was speed riding (flying with a parachute and with skis, very close to the terrain). Monday morning, the crew of the EC 145 helicopter and PGHM conducted a reconnaissance flight to find the speed rider. They found his body lifeless at the foot of the north face of the Aiguille du Midi. His friend Andy To described him as "a very happy and jolly person" as all of his friends considered him. His funeral took place on May 30th and friends from Asia, USA and Europe came to say a last farewell. in "Le Dauphine" on 05/27/09 See the blog in is memory
