We are in the first early days of winter and already the high altitude snow levels are looking good and are a fine omen for the start of the season. However, the snow cover between 2000 and 2500 metres is not looking sufficient to allow the opening of the Grands Montets ski area, which had been provisionally announced for this weekend. Unfortunately the warmer temperatures of the past couple of weeks have not been favourable for producing any great quantities of snow and therefore the Grands Montets will not be opening this weekend. The decision of whether to open the following weekend (20/21 November) will be taken on Tuesday evening according to the new snow conditions and the weather forecast for the end of the week. The weekend openings throughout November will all be subject to the same considerations each week up until the official opening date of 4th December.
