Yesterday, the "Compagnie du Mont Blanc" revealed this winter season's various lift prices to the Chamonix Municipal Council, including a "Mont Blanc Unlimited" day pass of 54 €, an increase of 3.45%. Many local officials have expressed their concerns about the continued rise in prices, namely 2-3% each year, noting higher rates that are disproportionate to any rise in household finances in this period of crisis. Other officials have pointed out that the "4 hour package" of 38.50€ is nearly the price of a day pass, 43.50 €. For the future, the Mayor of Chamonix (Eric Fournier) has asked the "Compagnie du Mont Blanc" to establish a multi-annual plan over the next 3 years. At the same time, the "Compagnie du Mont Blanc" is talking about a 100 million euros investment plan to renew lifts, 30 million euros of which before 2018.
