All ski areas and ski resorts in the Chamonix valley are now closed. However, some lifts will still operate during the month of May 2024 and these extended weekends.
Here is the list of all the gondolas, cable cars and high-altitude trains open this month of May 2024 in Chamonix.
Montenvers train
The Montenvers train, the Mer de Glace cable car and the ice cave will remain open until the evening of May 12. The site will then be closed for the rest of the month for work.
Flégère cable car
However, the Flégère gondola will take over from Monday 13 to Monday 20 May. Be careful, however, not to think that the trails will be passable like in summer. The snow will probably still be present in places.
Aiguille du Midi cable car
The Aiguille du Midi cable car will run be open continuously throughout the month of May. The next scheduled closure is in November for the planned maintenance.
Panoramic Mont-Blanc
On 25 May, weather permitting and security commission authorization granted, the small eggs of the Panoramic Mont-Blanc cable car, which take 30 minutes to travel high above the Valley Blanche will open for the summer.
