Mont-Blanc: An appeal for witnesses to find a French mountaineer

Update 18th August 2017: The missing mountaineer has been found dead by the Chamonix PGHM rescue teams, after two days of intense searches. He fell around 300 metres, crossing two seracs and then falling 25 metres into a crevasse. Chamonix.net sends condolences to mountaineer's family and friends.

An appeal for witnesses to find a French mountaineer reported missing since Tuesday morning 15th August 2017. Departed alone to climb the Mont Blanc via the Gouter Route, the man did not return in the evening.

According to Le Dauphine, the mountaineer (46) is of French nationality.

He departed on Tuesday 15th August 2017, around 7am, from the Crozat Car Park in Bionnassay (Haute-Savoie), he planned to climb the Mont Blanc (4,810m) via the Gouter Route at daytime in "trailer" mode, in all likelihood.

According to the identification elements provided, the man wore a dark outfit on the day of his disappearance.

He is 1,80 cm tall and weighs 75 kg, and he has brown short hair.
