Gilles Crestin, the Maitre d'Hotel of the Albert 1er in Chamonix, dies in a road traffic accident.
Gilles Crestin, 41, had just finished work for the night, at the restaurant in the Albert 1er, Chamonix. He was riding home on his motorcycle when he was in a head-on collision with an automobile on the road between Gaillands and Les Houches.
The automobile left the road, but the driver, 21, was safe inside the car and sustained no injuries. He works at another restaurant in Chamonix. The Gendamerie has confirmed that the young male driver of the automobile has tested positive for both alcohol and drugs and is in custody at the gendarmerie in Chamonix.
Gilles was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
