The prefecture of Haute-Savoie calls for caution in the high mountains

Tuesday 24th October 2017, the prefecture of Haute-Savoie issued a press release calling for caution in the high mountains.

According to the press release: winter conditions in the high mountains

Recommendations for the practice of mountain activities

"Mountain lovers, adapt your practice and equipment, especially clothing, to the autumn conditions, and even to winter conditions in the high mountains".

"Indeed, due to the precipitation of the last few days, an amount of snow was deposited in high-altitude: from 20 to 50cm of windblown snow in different areas, favorable to possible avalanche triggering on steep slopes".

"At lower altitude, it's autumn: great freshness in the shade and at sunset.

The prefecture invite you to consult "the weather forecast and advise you to be equipped with warm clothing and footwear suitable for wet ground."
