The famous Men's Downhill World Cup will come back to the Chamonix valley on the 8th and 9th of February, 2020.
In preparation for Kandahar 2020, the Sports Club of Chamonix needs to meet the new standards imposed by the International Ski Federation.
According to Le Dauphine, extensive work began a few weeks ago on the legendary black piste "La Verte des Houches".
In June 2017, the Community Council of the Chamonix valley approved the financial plan for Kandahar and for reconfiguring the Verte des Houches.
The total investment for the Kandahar, which includes the works for the Verte des Houches piste, amounts to 10 million euros.
Among others, the works on the Verte des Houches aim at enlarging the arrival racket and widening the lower part of the track.
The changes on the Verte des Houches mean that slalom world cup events will also be possible from now on.
Friday morning, many elected officials of the territory gathered on the racket of arrival under construction to officially launch these works which should last until the next winter.
