The idea behind Europe's highest distillery
A few years ago, James Abbott was going through a tough time and came to Saint-Gervais to clear up his mind and decide on what to do next while enjoying the peaceful mountains.
In St. Gervais, he encountered warm people who helped him integrate into the community. It was his new friends, the residents of Saint-Gervais, who suggested that he should make his own distillery. A piece of advice that was merely a nudge in the right direction.
James Abbott had always wanted to own a distillery. More importantly, he wanted a chance to prove that one can create excellent products without harming the planet. He wanted to create his own gin without any plastic. Just solar energy and recycled materials.
James transformed a mountainside donkey-shed into Europe's highest distillery and has the mission to "keep the mountain white", celebrating and protecting nature from the rooftop of Europe.
James Abbott's dream was to have his own distillery and produce excellent gin, without harming the planet.
