The winter viability plan for the Haute-Savoie region was activated on November 15th, 2019, just in time for the arrival of the snow.
According to Radio Mont-Blanc, the winter viability plan will last all season, as the County Council is responsible for around 3,000 km (1,864 mi).
Seven days a week, the 450 agents are ready to intervene at any time to clear snow and salt the axes.
However, the teams will be careful to limit the use of salt, which has a negative impact on the environment.
24,000 tonnes of salt were used by departmental services last winter to maintain roads. That's almost two times less than eight years ago when 40,000 tonnes were consumed.
