While many professional trail-runners have already announced their arrival in Chamonix for the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® 2020, some of them will not be participating.
This is the case of Kilian Jornet, the Everest speed ascent record holder, Mont-Blanc speed ascent and descent on foot, six-time champion of the long-distance running Skyrunner World Series, and former UTMB® champion in 2008, 2009 and 2011.
Kilian Jornet is one point short for UTMB® 2020 admittance, but there might still be a chance he will be admitted to the race.
Jim Walmsley, Pau Capell, François D'Haene, Xavier Thevenard, Ludovic Pommeret, Pablo Villa, Timothy Freriks, Tim Tollefson, Nin Qi, Marcin Swierc.
This is the list of big names already announced for the UTMB® 2020 but, surprisingly, Kilian Jornet is missing! The Spaniard is currently missing only one point!
Runners needed to finish their two qualifying races between January 2018 and December 31, 2019, to apply for 2020.
The number of points required depends on which race you’re targeting (UTMB-10, CCC-6, TDS-8, OCC-4 points). 2020 is the last year current qualifying standards will apply for UTMB before organizers implement a new qualifying process.
The draw took place on 9 January 2020 and by now, everyone should have received their invitation.
Please remember that the lucky runners who passed the draw have a period of 14 days, until 22 January 2020, to finalise their registration by paying, by credit-card, the balance of the registration price and sending in all the required supporting documents.
You can check if you are one of the lucky ones or if your favourite runner made it here.
