Three months after the carbon monoxide poisoning that required the evacuation of 30 people, the Argentière hut can finally reopen to the public from this weekend.
On Saturday 4 June 2022, the security commission that visited the Argentière Hut, at an altitude of 2,769 meters, validated the reopening of the hut.
According to Le Dauphine, firefighters, elected officials and PGHM gendarmes, present for the occasion also highlighted the excellent holding of the refuge by its hut-keepers Frédéric and Béatrice Laurenzio.
The Argentière Hut reopens its doors to climbers for the summer season
From this weekend, 11 and 12 June 2022, the two hut-keepers can therefore welcome the climbers again.
“We’d rather focus on this summer season than think about this failed spring,” say the two hut-keepers, who have still been deprived of 3,000 of the 3,500 nights they spend on average each year.
A reopening that they owe to the unfailing support of Christoni Hurgon, head of the French Alpine Club of Chamonix, and the mountain’s loving community in the area.
The hut-keepers hope that a large number of mountaineers will come to visit them.

In June: service bins will allow them to leave from the top of Plan Joran every day of the week.

In July and August: Mountaineers will be able to enjoy the cable car every day from Argentière.
