On Tuesday 10 January, the blue sky and the fresh snow were on the cards in the ski areas of the Chamonix valley. A winning combo that skiers have known very little about since the start of the winter season…
Brevent ski resort
At Brévent, snow enthusiasts could drag their skis through 30 centimeters of powder at an altitude of 2000 meters, 40 at the top of the ski area.
A nice new layer that has even allowed the ski areas to reopen some slopes and ski lifts closed in recent days.
Les Houches ski resort
In Les Houches, two chairlifts re-opened on Tuesday 10 January.
The Balme ski area was also able to reconnect with green lights on its bulletin board.
Forecasts predict a more lasting improvement for the rest of the season
According to Le Dauphine, the precipitation has not completely reshuffled the maps of snow cover in the valley, but the forecasts give hope for a more lasting improvement for the rest of the season.
Locals and holidaymakers have in any case chained the slopes, sometimes ungroomed, with a smile. An element that inevitably delights the trackers who had seen all their preparation work destroyed by the buckets of water that fell during the Christmas holidays.
To be informed with the weather forecast and the risk of avalanche bulletin consult the official site of Météo-France of the station of Chamonix.
