The Tre-la-Tete Glacier "water bubble" that threatens St Gervais

Since the announcement of a "water bubble" of 65,000 m³ that is threatening Saint-Gervais, the comments/gossip in that ski resort are going really well. At the Refuge Tête Rousse (3165m), nobody is more concerned than Patricia Tuléri (the guardian) and the mountaineers that she hosts. The Glacier of Tre-la-Tête is just above her head. She says: "We have so many climbers as usual, it's more the hikers that come less". She explains this by the fact that the last bit of the Tramway du Mont Blanc is closed for the season, due to the works that are being done in the glacier. In the Baths of St. Gervais, there has been a small decrease of visitors but this is not significant. It's not an exodus due to the fact of a collective psychosis. Some owners that have properties in the area concerned by a possible evacuation, have warned their future tenants. Some have preferred to cancel the presence of disabled persons and/or young children. Example: in the hamlet of Bionnay, the evacuation must be done in ten minutes if the "water bubble" breaks. At the campsite "Dome Miages", the only one in Saint-Gervais, there is no difference in terms of tourists during these holidays. In the Goûter hut, the other refuge in the normal route of the Mont Blanc, no impact on attendance. "We were asked a lot of questions by phone, we stick to the facts. Why the train has stopped and that a new path exists that allow you to pass avoiding the 'water bubble'", said the guardian Nadine Barnier. Le Dauphiné
