The Hotel Mont Blanc, situated next to the Chamonix tourist office, is now closed. A 15 month renovation has just started, with a planned re-opening in June 2012. The hotel will still have 40 rooms, but they will be more spacious. The restructuring program is designed to upgrade the hotel to 5 star status. The hotel has already been emptied of furniture, & reconstruction is underway in the interior of the hotel, even though the building permit for the whole project is still awaiting approval.
