Les Grands Montets is open for the 2018-19 winter season

Saturday 15 December 2018, Les Grands Montets opened for the 2018-19 winter season. The domain is in good condition, but with the winter solstis just a few days away, sunlight hours are in short supply, particulalry on the north west facing slopes of Les Grands Montets. If you prefer to get the most out of the sun, head over to the south east facing Le Brévent / Flégère, which opened on Sunday 16 December.

More season debut fresh snow for les GM hardcore! Enjoy

At the top of Le Bochard there was 1.5 meters of fresh powder.  Low morning termperatures did not deter any of the hardcore, who accessed the mountain early, by way of the télécabine de Plan Joran.

By midday, the pistes were busy like previous years and by 2pm, the Pierre à Ric opened, so everyone could take the long descent to Argentiere.

This season we have a new Tabe lift. The old 2 seater is now a 6 seater débrayable. This means the chair slows down when you get on and off, really safe, very quiet and no stress.  The new Tabe allows less expereinced skiers, up to 2800 every hour!, to get even more of that Grands Montets magic!

A new drag has replaced the Marmattons 2 pax lift.

Just above the 2000m level, good snow, plently of piste, fast lifts with short rides and no queues. Great skiing for beginners, on one of the world's most famous and challenging ski domains.

Also for the 2018-19 season, the Snowpark has been improved, particularly the access, which is now directly from the top tof the Plan Joran lift.

By the end of the day on Les Grands Montets, if your legs won't endure the long Pierre à Ric back to the valley floor, take an easy and relaxing ride on the Plan Joran, back to Argentière,
