On 21 January 2020, elected officials from the Communauté de communes de la vallée de Chamonix and representatives from the companies responsible for the Chamonix Bus (Transdev and GRDF) met for the inauguration of two new buses.
According to the official website of the City Hall of Chamonix, the two new buses are CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) and will allow for a 30% reduction in the CO2 emissions and a 95% reduction in the discharge of fine particles.
Moreover, these buses are half as noisy as the diesel ones.
The Chamonix valley fleet is now made up of two CNG buses, two 100% electric mules, 6 hybrid electric/diesel buses, eight Euro 6 buses and 21 Euro 5 EEV buses, the most restrictive standards in terms of environmental protection.
Other two new CNG buses are scheduled to join the Chamonix bus fleet in March 2020.
