As of 14 March 2020, all ski areas, ski facilities, touristic sites, altitude restaurants & more in the Chamonix Valley, and all over France are closed, in an attempt to limit the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19.
Chamonix.net informs you of:
- how to ask for reimbursement for ski lift passes;
- what events are cancelled;
- how the Chamonix buses are affected;
- what facilities are closed & more.
Reimbursement for Ski Passes
Case 1: I purchased a day or several-day ski pass at a resort ticket office
- After verification of the number of ski days used, the difference will be reimbursed directly at a resort ticket office, subject to available funds;
- If the reimbursement is not possible at a ticket office (insufficient funds or the customer is no longer in resort) customers are invited to file a request online: (https://suggestion.compagniedumontblanc.fr/), in order to obtain a full or partial refund subject to the degree of use of the lift pass.
Case 2: I purchased my lift pass online via MBNR and have used it partially
- After verification of the number of ski days used, the difference will be reimbursed directly at a resort ticket office, subject to available funds;
- The reimbursement is not possible at a ticket office (insufficient funds or the customer is no longer in resort) customers are invited to file a request online: (https://suggestion.compagniedumontblanc.fr/) in order to obtain a full or partial refund subject to the degree of use of the lift pass.
Case 3: I purchased my lift pass online via MBNR and have not used it at all
- The CMB lift company will send you a message to confirm the full refund of your lift pass;
- The CMB will credit the card used for payment.
Case 4: I purchased my lift pass via a sales machine (tourist office, Flégère, Sanglard sports) or in a hotel
- After verification of the number of ski days used, the difference will be reimbursed directly at a resort ticket office, subject to available funds;
- If the reimbursement is not possible at a ticket office (insufficient funds or the customer is no longer in resort), customers are invited to file a request online: (https://suggestion.compagniedumontblanc.fr/) in order to obtain a full or partial refund subject to the degree of use of the lift pass.
Case 5: I purchased my lift pass through a sales agent such as a tour operator, agency, a hotel or a tourism association (including online sales agents)
- We invite customers to contact their sales agent directly;
- The commercial service is in contact with the sales agents and will inform them of the procedure to follow.
Events cancelled
- Chamonix Unlimited Festival (from 31 March to 5 April).
"Yesterday evening (author's note: 12 March 2020), the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron announced new measures to limit gatherings, without going into specific detail on what those limits would be. Today, Friday 13th March at 1:00 p.m, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe announced the ban on all gatherings of more than 100 people.
It is with our great sadness that due to these new limits we will not be able to continue with 2020’s edition of The Unlimited Festival.", announced the management of the Unlimited Festival.

Chamonix Buses & Trains

Reduced Service in the Bus Network - because of the current situation related to the coronavirus COVID-19, the Chamonix Bus network will be reduced from Wednesday, 18 March 2020:
- Line 1 & Line 2 will operate as per the off-season Sunday service, with an hourly bus;
- Line 3 & Line 6 will operate as per the winter service;
- The Servoz-Le Prarion service will not be running;
- The Mulet Shuttle will operate a reduced service, with one bus every 20 minutes;
- All other services and lines (Chamo’night, Mobil’bus) are suspended.
