Col de la Bérangère: Crevasse fall for a mountaineer

Monday 1st August 2022 at 1:50 p.m., a rope of two mountaineers fell into a crevasse at the Col de la Bérangère (3348 meters), located in Contamines-Montjoie. An accident which slightly injured one of the two mountaineers, transported to the Sallanches hospital.

His rope partner, on the other hand, was polytraumatized and evacuated to the Annecy hospital.

 

According to Le Dauphine, the second part of the day was rather busy in the Mont-Blanc massif.

Rescuers from the Chamonix PGHM aboard the Choucas 74 helicopter rescued another rope of two women after the lead climber fell in the ascent of the Aiguille de l'M (2844 meters).

Two other exhausted mountaineers were also taken care of at Mont Maudit (4465 meters), before the rescue of a person hiking at the Col de Tricot.

Tuesday 2 August : four interventions for the PGHM

The PGHM of Chamonix carried out four interventions, including one concerning the crushing of the hand of a 14-year-old teenager by a 1.5 tonne block, at 12:30 p.m.

The young man is a Spanish tourist who was hiking on the path leading to the Argentière glacier with his parents.

He was taken to the Geneva hospital. No information has been released on the potential loss of his hand.
