On Wednesday 19 April 2023, the Chamonix High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM) carried out two rescue operations for serious injuries.
First rescue operation at 1:30 p.m. in the town of Saint-Gervais
A 25-year-old hiker fell about sixty meters before falling again from a six-meter-high icefall. Victim of a head trauma and an open ankle fracture, he was transported to Sallanches hospital.
Second rescue operation in the afternoon at Bois du Bouchet
In the middle of the afternoon, a 37-year-old man missed his speed riding landing at Bois du Bouchet in Chamonix. He was rescued by the PGHM and taken to the Sallanches hospital to treat trauma to the thorax and lumbar but also for an open fractured arm.
