Two mountaineers fall into a crevasse in the Vallée Blanche

Hélicoptère Dragon 74 PGHM Chamonix

The Chamonix High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM) intervened several times this Monday, September 16th. The unit specializing in mountain rescue first came to the aid of a 35-year-old man who had his leg stuck under a block of stone at the Envers des Aiguilles ladders. The climber was taken to Sallanches hospital with the help of the Dragon 74 helicopter.

The men of the PGHM were then mobilized to rescue a 28-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man who fell a little after 1:30 p.m. in a crevasse in the Vallée Blanche traverse. They were also evacuated to Sallanches hospital, as was a 73-year-old man, victim of head trauma after a fall near Montenvers and who was rescued a little later in the day.
