Busy day for Chamonix PGHM rescue service

The gendarmes of Chamonix PGHM were called out seven times yesterday, Tuesday, on Mont Blanc and also in the surrounding mountains. There were various injuries, but also climbers struck by lightning. Those hit felt well enough in the "Refuge de Goûter" on Monday night, but later called for a rescue the next day, visibly "shocked". A Spanish climber has also disappeared, and the investigation is continuing. A guide explained to the PGHM that last Thursday, the Spanish climber had followed him and his customers, even over the last section to the summit of Mont Blanc. He then apparently refused to put on their rope, preferring to go alone. Since then, the police have lost track of him, and helicopter flights in the area have not located him.
