FWT 2014 Chamonix Mont-Blanc

26 Jan 2014, The Swatch Freeride World Tour (FWT) 2014 by The North Face® featuring the Freeride World Cup took place for the second time in Chamonix Mont-Blanc.

The tour began with a men-only event in Courmayeur on the 18 Jan 2014.

The Freeride World Tour in Chamonix started Fri, 24 Jan and ended Sun, 26 Jan. The exact place and time of the event was announced 48 hours in advance. La Pourrie at La Flégère was the best available slope and 8:45am CET the optimal start time.

Aiguille Pourrie is steep and offers enough variations to showcase freestyle skills. The previous night the wind had picked up for a few hours, so the top of the slope had lost its recent powder, but the second half of the slope retained a good cover of pristine powder, perfect for freeriding. The day itself was sunny and great for the spectators. For the first time, the competition went out with a live webcast.

Chamonix local and Wildcard rider Christophe Charlet demonstrated his familiarity with the terrain through a strong line choice earning a score of 78.25 and the third position.
