Goûter Refuge: Opening Confirmed for 2018 Season

The opening of Gouter Refuge (3,815m) for the 2018 summer season is Friday 25 May 2018 as confirmed by the Fédération Française des Clubs Alpins et de Montagne (FFCAM).

The Gouter Refuge is situated about 1000m below the summit of Mont-Blanc (4,808m), on the traditional route with the same name, the Gouter route. Each year, thousands of climbers attempt to summit on this route, sleeping overnight at the Refuge and departing in the early morning for the final push to the summit. The Goûter building can accommodate up to 120 visitors.

Attention: Bookings can ONLY be made online.

Remember that you need to book the Gouter Refuge in advance. You cannot arrive without a reservation and expect to stay the night.

Webcams installed on the Goûter Refuge

Three webcams have been installed on the Goûter refuge, to allow climbers to observe in real time the weather conditions in altitude, before climbing the Mont Blanc.

According to Montagnes Magazine, last summer the FFCAM installed three webcams: one with view to the south and the col de Bionnassay, the other towards the exit of the Goûter couloir and Tête Rousse, to the North, and the last one towards the Aiguille de Bionnassay, towards the west.

To check out the webcams, click here (Due to the adverse weather conditions the webcams may be unavailable).
