Witnesses to the avalanche under the Bergerie in the off-piste area of Brevent were quick to help dig out 2 skiers from the avalanche the skiers had set off themselves. The PGHM continued the rescue effort by heli-porting the victims unharmed to a safe area. As well as the rest of the Haute-Savoie, Meteo France has graded the Mont Blanc Massif region as a 4 in a scale out of 5. Other skiers in the Haute-Savoie weren't as fortunate. An avalanche in a gully in La Clusaz knocked a skier over two rock bands. Two off-duty ski patrol in the area dug out the buried victim, alive but with a broken leg. In nearby Les Gets in the Mont-Chéry massif, despite the quick intervention of rescue services, an ex-ski instructor buried in an avalanche, was not found alive.
