On 18 September, the commune of Chamonix and the bus company, Transdev, signed a deal, for a new bus network in the Chamonix Valley.
The Chamonix bus network transports yearly more than 2.1 billions of tourists and supports a big frequency variation throughout the year. In this sense, starting with 19 October the bus lines will be reduced and the old buses will be replaced with new one, that will be available every 30 minutes. In order to improve the passengers' comfort, each bus will provide free Internet access via WIFI and will contain a new logo.
Moreover, the community is planning to deploy 6 new 'cleaner' buses Euro 6, considered to be on the top level in terms of cleaner buses, with the addition on 2 electric Mulets in February, and a further 6 hybrid buses in April. Briefly, there will no longer be any of the Euro 2 (worst polluters) type buses in the valley, but only Euro 4 buses to ensure less pollution. Thus, grace to these new buses, almost 90% of harmful emissions are expected to be reduced.
