Snowfall in late November and early December 2018 has been consistent, but insufficient for the slopes to open for the weekend of 8/9 December.
Therefore, the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc, which operates the ski lifts of the Chamonix Valley, has decided to postpone the opening of the slopes to the weekend of 15/16 December 2018.
Enthusiasts of winter sports had probably already noted in their diaries the date of December 8, but they will have to wait another week. Le Brévent, La Flégère, Balme et Les Grands Montets are scheduled to open on December 15th. But Compagnie du Mont-Blanc constantly reviews the, “partial opening according to the snow conditions”.
The weather forecast indicates more snow this weekend and frequent snowfalls throughout the coming week, so we are looking good for the 15/16 opening.
