Climbing World Cup Chamonix 2019 Results

Chamonix has a history of over 18 years of organizing international climbing competitions. Thus, it has become one of the most important towns in the climbing world.

From the 11th to the 13th of July 2019, the Chamonix Sports Club had organized another Climbing World Cup, which has brought together 15,000 people and has been a complete success.

15,000 people in the square

The Chamonix Climbing World Cup in 2019 has been a total success. The numbers are impressive - 15,000 people from all over the world came to Chamonix to cheer for their favourite athlete or simply enjoy one of the most popular events in the climbing world.

Saturday night, the bars were authorized to serve until 5 o'clock in the morning and between 10,000 and 15,000 people were present on the Place du Mont-Blanc.

Sarah Chelpi, commander of the Compagnie de Gendarmerie de Chamonix, declared that next year, she would put more staff on the event.

The director of the Chamonix Sports Club, Frédéric Comte, said that climbing is undoubtedly one of the outdoor sports events in Haute-Savoie which attract the most people.

And climbing does not stop here, as the sport will make its debut at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. Moreover, Chamonix is one of the possible organizers of the climbing event for Paris 2024.

The only downsides were the organization of parking and the lack of additional bins. Things that are worth changing and most likely will be improved in the years to come.

The French

According to Le Dauphine, the French were disappointed with the results of the difficulty test of the Climbing World Cup on Saturday morning.

Of the five participants in the difficulty test, none qualified in the final.

In women, Camille Pouget was 13th, Julia Chanourdie 14th and Luce Douady finished 21st.

In men, there was a big disappointment for Romain Desgrandes, who finished 19th.

Junior Alistair Duval finished on the 9th place. He definitely missed the final, but ranking nine constitutes a great performance for him.
