Unconfinement in the Mont-Blanc region! At the cost of drastic sanitary conditions, the Aiguille du Midi cable car, the highest in France - nearly 900,000 visitors per year - and the Montenvers train will resume service.
Mathieu Dechavanne, the CEO of Compagnie du Mont-Blanc, talks about "Asian" conditions, namely: compulsory masks, temperature measurement with electronic terminals, cabin capacity reduced by half.
Drastic measures
- From May 16, weekends only, to start.
- Mandatory passage in front of the temperature measurement terminals before boarding. "If the temperature exceeds what is allowed, the person will not be able to climb into the cabins."
- The CMB purchased 100,000 masks. "Coming with your own mask is preferable, but we can provide it", explains the CEO.
- In the cable cars, there will be 30 people allowed, instead of 80. For the Montenvers train, while the maximum capacity is 200 people, it will be limited to 80.
The Company encourages online booking to limit checkouts. Reservations should be opened a few days before, around May 13, the Company will specify the precise date in a further press release.
This reopening will be done provided that Haute-Savoie is in green on the circulation map of the virus - which is currently the case even if the occupancy rate of resuscitation beds places the department in orange for the summary map . The recovery is obviously suspended to the final decisions of the government.
And for the inhabitants of the countries of Savoy, if the recovery is confirmed, there is a real opportunity to enjoy the fantastic site ... without the flow of tourists.
