On Wednesday 6 October 2021, the Tourist Office and the Intermunicipal Association of Chamonix presented to the valley's accommodation providers their action plan to boost this winter season, which is the key for all tourism professionals.
After a winter without ski lifts, which affected the accounts of the tourism professionals in the Chamonix valley, Nicolas Durochat, the director of the Chamonix Valley Tourist Office presented his battle plan to boost this winter ski season 2021/2022.
Free ski lessons for all levels : Alpine, Nordic, Hiking and Freeride
According to Le Dauphine, free group ski lessons for all those who spend at least three nights at the accommodation providers of the valley.
Nicolas Durochat clearly said "No, the ski lessons are not only for the piou-piou level". Adults or children, beginners, advanced or expert, can benefit from these free courses: downhill skiing, off-piste skiing, cross-country skiing, Nordic skiing or snow garden.
Apart from the freeride or off-piste skiing courses which mobilize the ESF instructors over a full day, this courses offered will be for half a day. Note that snowboarding is not included in this offer.
Valid for ski courses from 2 to 6 days, this offer applies to anyone residing at an accommodation provider and stays at least 3 nights in the Chamonix valley on the following dates from 7 January to 4 February and from 7 March to 1st April 2022.
Regarding those periods, the Chamonix Tourist Office seeks to boost the intermittent school vacations. "The periods differentiate a good winter from a very good winter," explained the President Nicolas Durochat.
As required by law, the operation subject to competitive procurement, concerns all ski schools in the valley: ESF of Les Houches, Chamonix, Argentière and Vallorcine, and they all responded favorably.
Tourists can now book the free ski courses at the various ski schools by presenting a booking confirmation (hotel, holiday center, rental of accommodation from person to person, etc.).
To prevent from booking ski lessons and cancelling, it was decided that tourists should present the Chamonix Guest Card given by their accommodation provider at the first ski lesson.
