On Wednesday 23 February 2022, in the afternoon, a paraglider was "evacuated unscathed" after having inadvertently hung his glider on pylon number 3 of the Planpraz gondola, announced the rescuers of the High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM).
The accident occurred on the lower part of the Planpraz gondola, which leads, among other things, to a take-off site very popular for paragliders.
Alerted by passers-by, the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc (CMB) immediately had to stop the gondola, the time to pick up the suspended paraglider.
The intervention slightly disrupted the operation of the ski area. The Planpraz gondola is widely used to descend back into the valley.
“More fear than harm” for the man who “found himself hooked up on the gondola”, but after half an hour was able to be “evacuated unharmed” to the Brévent parking car, commented the PGHM rescuers.
In the photos published by Le Dauphiné Libéré we can see the man, black jacket and red pants, suspended several meters above the ground from his sail, itself tangled and rolled into a ball and hanging from the pylon by one side.
Wednesday was a busy day for the rescuers of Chamonix PGHM. They had to rescue seven other people for traumatic injuries after falls on skis.
